More than the heat we’ve been feeling these past few weeks, it was the human warmth that mattered most on the day we blew out the 528 candles marking the life of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa.

This anniversary embodies many centuries of history: attention to detail, compassionate care, and being in the right place at the right time. It embodies many centuries of work, of direct contact, of social responsibility. Many centuries of lives, those who give and those who receive. And it is because of all those many lives and the countless generations that have passed through Santa Casa that we continue to mark another year; People remain the center and the reason for everything.

Regardless of our area or department, we all work for the well-being of others. We work to make our Society more just, equitable, representative, accessible, sustainable, and empathetic. Regardless of the fronts on which we do this, the Mission cuts across all of us who are part of this House.

Here at Casa do Impacto, we take on the enormous responsibility of keeping this goal alive, staying focused and looking toward the future, while empowering, supporting, and staying attuned to the opportunities the present brings us. The support of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa has been essential in backing our Entrepreneurs and Projects and vital in implementing many of the Impact Solutions that will make the world a better place.

July 2nd is always a joyful day that reaffirms that this Organization with more than five centuries of history remains necessary, useful, present and it’s capable of adapting, transforming, and innovating.

From the unveiling of the mural honoring the Beneméritos, to the Mass celebrated at the Church of São Roque, through the traditional drawing of the Special Classic Lottery commemorating this date, a moment steeped in symbolism that, every year, brings us together in the iconic SCML Drawing Hall, right up to the concert by singer Lura and the Santa Casa March parade, which, after descending the avenue on the Night of Saint Anthony, climbed back up the hill to show us the energy and pride with which they wear the jersey, this was a heartwarming day celebrating all those who are and have been part of this Organization.

Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa remains here for all those who need it, for as long as necessary.

Congratulations, SCML!
