Scalability is a concept that cuts across all areas and sectors. Nothing begins without the prospect of continuity, and so many tools, methodologies, and narratives can enable a Project to continue growing that there will never be a shortage of reasons to discuss this topic. Luckily for us, there are people generous enough to share their perspectives, experiences, and solutions in one of our “Conversations with Impact.”

In the current scenario, where Companies and Organizations are facing rapid changes and increasing demands from Customers and other Stakeholders, the ability to grow in a sustainable, efficient, and financially profitable manner becomes an added challenge. More than just a competitive advantage, Scalability becomes a matter of survival. Scaling does not only mean growing in size, but expanding the capacity to generate real change, reaching more People, new Territories, and different Communities.

In the Impact Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, Scalability assumes an even more complex dimension. Unlike traditional Companies, whose growth is often measured solely by numbers and profit, Social Businesses and Impact Projects must ensure that their expansion does not compromise their Identity, Purpose, and Mission, thereby generating Social, Environmental, and Community value.

The Social Sector is demanding: resources are scarce, and there is a lot of pressure to get things done within the short timeframe allowed by the frenetic pace of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. Copy-pasting is not enough; solutions and products must be adapted and customized to each audience and the context, needs, and dynamics that characterize it.

With limited resources, Impact Organizations are forced to constantly innovate and seek out Partners that allow them to go further. Going it alone is much more difficult, and Partnerships are essential to leverage growth: Foundations, Companies, Governments, or other Social Organizations with the capacity to bring financing, knowledge, credibility, and authority are vital pieces in the health of the Impact.

But there is no one right path; there are many! And there is nothing better than using real-life examples of people who are forging their own path to Scalability, tailored to their own needs and goals. These paths and experiences will serve as the starting point for the Impact Conversation: “Moving Towards Scaling, Challenges and Solutions for Growing with Purpose.”

Once again, we have brought together Professionals from various fields to discuss perspectives and experiences, and learn about good examples that continue to inspire.

Whether they are Impact Projects or Equipment from Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, they all require a certain amount of creativity, emotion, empathy, and a lot of determination to keep the Purpose alive.
