We all live in the same society, but not everyone has the same opportunities.
Inclusive employment is an increasingly widespread concept. It sounds good in theory; no one opposes the ideals of Equality and Equity. But what about in practice? How does it become a reality? How do ideals and concepts become opportunities that are achievable and accessible to all? We need to take the reins and create strategies, apply methodologies, and use tools that make employment for People with Disabilities a reality.
We are not experts, but we want to do better. To do this, we have to start at the beginning, with what is already being done, with the examples we want to follow. What solutions currently exist to integrate and maintain People with Disabilities in the labor market? How should Organizational Culture adapt? How does Inclusive Leadership make a difference? How important is Accessibility?
Accessibility is the cornerstone, the beginning of everything, the starting point for thinking about an Organization or Company that is for everyone. And Accessibility goes far beyond the elimination of architectural and physical barriers. Accessibility is about a total reorganization of strategy and communication, ranging from adopting assistive technologies to updating adapted tools, including mandatory organizational flexibility and the definition of inclusive processes. Without Accessibility, it is not possible for everyone to participate equally; without that space, without that willingness to listen to different voices, it is not possible to truly include everyone.
In the next edition of Conversations with Impact, under the theme “Employment for People with Disabilities,” we will once again bring together Experts and Professionals who have already begun to tread this path and who, therefore, in addition to making a real difference in their organizations and companies, have the ability to inspire and become role models.
They will share their field experience with us so we can understand what works in practice, the challenges, and concrete solutions that transform work environments into spaces truly accessible to all.
Employer or not, this is a topic on which everyone in society has something to say. We are all part of the change!
