How much can you fit into more than five centuries of work done in the name of an eternal commitment to serving the city, supporting the underprivileged, and social action?
Generations upon generations, a material and symbolic heritage that passes from mouth to mouth and feeds this certainty that, whatever happens, the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa remains here, available to embrace and care for.
From the youngest to the oldest, the Santa Casa touches everyone’s life, being transversal to the growth and development of each individual, available when and if needed. Certainly, Queen Leonor is proud to see that the institution she founded 527 years ago remains omnipresent, built on the principles of charity and justice, always attentive to change and ready to reinvent itself, responding to the social challenges that arise over time.
Santa Casa is a people-to-people organization composed of many individuals who work directly or indirectly to improve the lives of others: the ones who are behind the scenes, those who are in management, oiling the machine, ensuring that it remains active, efficient, and ready for everything and everyone, the immense number of people who are on the ground, in the right place at the right time, for rapid, direct and always close intervention.
Casa do Impacto, as a Social Innovation Hub dedicated to Social and Environmental Impact, also works to continue this Mission, empowering Entrepreneurs whose Projects improve the lives of so many people, the many who come every day and the many others they may never meet, but who, from generation to generation, live the replicas of the positive Impact achieved in a truly sustainable way. An Impact that is irreversible and that makes society more equal, equitable, representative, and fair.
We are privileged to have this territory of proven success to apply and test the Impact solutions that live in our Casa. To be able to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of the professionals who make up Santa Casa and who, more than anyone, understand the challenges that we at Casa do Impacto want to overcome sustainably and innovatively and the audiences we want to reach, never leaving aside the whole human and emotional dimension that makes this institution more than a “Casa” (House), a Home for all those who need it.
Congratulations, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, on 527 years of work!
