This was undoubtedly an unusual summer for the three finalist teams of the third edition of Triggers. With just over two months to prepare for the final Demoday, Digna Engenharia, Humiverso and Raro combined their well-deserved rest with the continuous development of their projects and the preparation of the right answers to all of the jury’s questions.

Over these two months, we closely followed the progress of these passionate Entrepreneurs, offering both support and “tough love,” and confirming that the finalists chosen for the podium were indeed the right ones. However, while the podium positions were guaranteed, they still had to prove they deserved to reach the top spot, and unfortunately, only one could claim it.

The Executive Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Social Economy at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, Dr. Luís Rego, set the tone for an afternoon full of innovation, expressing appreciation for all involved—Entrepreneurs and Partners alike.

Our journey Partners, who were present throughout the entire process, joined Nuno Comando, Head of Programs, Investment, and Communications at Casa do Impacto, for the final decision. Special thanks to all the representatives who added tremendous value: Soraia Carvalho, Director of the Department of Environment and Sea at Câmara Municipal de Cascais; Sarah Faleiros, Sustainability Project Manager at Fundação Ageas; João Arbués Moreira, Social Impact Projects Coordinator at EDP; Cláudia Varandas, Open Innovation Project Manager at Galp; and finally, Bárbara Leão Carvalho de Carvalho, Impact Investments Manager at 3XP Global.

After much deliberation, the results were as follows:

  • 1ST PLACE: HUMIVERSO (Pedro Carvalho and Rafael Crisóstomo): They develop innovative modular machines that transform organic waste into organic fertilizer using worms and vermicomposting. This contributes to decentralizing waste management and promoting self-production of organic fertilizer.
Humiverso receives €5,000, Incubation, and Mentoring at Casa do Impacto.

  • 2ND PLACE: RARO (Luís Serra, Tiago Reis, Sérgio Carvalho): An online retail platform combining Curation, Communication, and Technology, focusing exclusively on preserving the heritage of craftsmanship, biodiversity, and ancestral production techniques.
Raro receives €3,000, Incubation, and Mentoring at Casa do Impacto.

  • 3RD PLACE: DIGNA ENGENHARIA (Evelin Mello): A social technology committed to solving complex housing issues through diverse services, focusing on developing Sustainable Communities.
Digna Engenharia receives €2,000, Incubation, and Mentoring at Casa do Impacto.
